The September Student of the Month at Deft Digits is 13-year-old Lauren. She’s been taking lessons with me since last summer, learning to play some Sam Smith, John Legend, Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, and a pile of others. She also writes her own catchy, witty songs, which I hope you all get to hear one day.
Lauren showed up to her first lesson last year packing a left-handed guitar and a voice from another world. Sometimes I just want to spend the whole lesson listening to her sing instead of teaching guitar. Lauren’s biggest projects so far have been Coldplay’s “Fix You” for her first Showcase performance and the illustrious “Stairway to Heaven” for her second. Her latest endeavor is Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”, and her voice and guitar are sounding amazing on it so far. Check it out:
