Congratulations to Mia McKey, the second-ever Deft Digits student of the month. Mia has been taking lessons at Deft Digits along with her two brothers and their mom since February 2012. She’s always had an impressive knack for picking up new songs and tricks quickly, probably because she practices so much between lessons. Some of her favorite artists include Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Miley Cyrus. This summer, when she’s not splashing and diving at the local beach club, she’s learning songs like “Yellow Submarine,” Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue,” Taylor Swift’s “Safe and Sound” and “I Knew You Were Trouble When You Walked In.”
I interviewed Mia this week about her favorite aspects of learning music and guitar. You’ll also see clips of her playing along with Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” and Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me.” Keep practicing and cranking out those new tunes, Mia! You’ll be a human jukebox around the campfire before you know it!
Be sure to also check out last month’s feature on Lucca!
